” I cannot call to mind a single valley that in the same extent of country comprises so much beautiful and picturesque scenery and so many interesting special features as the Vale of Neath”

~ Alfred Russel Wallace

Hi, and welcome to the Blaengwrach and Cwmgwrach Timeline Project.

The project was set up in January 2020 with a view to look at the timeline of the village from continental drift through to the present time.

As you may be aware, over the last 2 centuries, there has ben a lot of industrial history connected to the village, and running alongside that history there have been many changes to the village over this time. It has been taken from a very rural and agricultural background, right through the industrial revolution and back to a more quieter time that we see today.

As you may know, there have been many great books written on the Vale of Neath and the village and we hope to build on this excellent body of work, but in a more visual way. Therefore the aim of the project is to bring together in one place the history of the village, and to show this history in a more visual format.

There are four main pillars of the project:

* The first is to look at the timeline of the village,
* The second is to represent these changes in a visual way where possible, using video, models, Drawings, 3D imagines and old historical photographs.
*  The Third pillar is to bring together a compilation of as many historical documents as possible.
* The fourth Pillar is to encourage people to get involved in the project in which ever way they feel comfortable.

This website is designed to capture all the finding of the project, we hope you enjoy the experience.
