Going through my fathers collection of photographs and other things he collected over time, I found this battered Aberpergwm Church Quarterly magazine from April 1940. There are a few pages dedicated to the local area which I have shown below, then a few pages of articles from around the world. As this website is looking at the local area, I decided not to show these articles. But to give you a flavour of what’s included I have listed some of the other articles contained in the magazine of a more general nature. There is an article on Saint George, an article on adoption, a letters page, an article on the Church abroad and Missionary notes to just mention a few.
Of interest to the locality there is an Obituary to the “best know clergymen of the country” the Aberpergwm Vicar Rev. J. Llewelyn Thomas, who was a confidential friend of Monarchs. He was inducted as vicar of Aberpergwm Church in 1894 and served there for 46 years, but I will let you read the story for yourself. Also of interest to the area is the Offertory Accounts for Aberpergwm Church and Blaengwrach Chapel of Ease. I have also included A PAGE FOR HOME-MAKERS, which makes for interesting reading especially as there was wartime rationing at the time.
